Journalist Victor Manoel, from ContilNet, won first place in the Student category of the 2nd Communication Award from the Government of Acre, held on Thursday night (28).

Victor took the prize with the article entitled “On national day against homophobia, get to know the 1st LGBTQIA+ Public Policy Observatory in Acre”a work that highlights the creation of the Observatory as a milestone in the fight for the rights of the LGBTQIA+ population in the state.

The awards ceremony was marked by moving tributes and cultural presentations. Personalities such as Governor Gladson Cameli and several authorities participated in the event, which sought to recognize the efforts of communicators in different categories.

The Student category, aimed at reports produced by academics in the field of communication, awarded Victor with R$5,000 for first place.

In his speech upon receiving the award, Victor Manoel thanked the institutions that have marked his trajectory in journalism to date.

“I thank ContilNet, which was my first home in journalism, for its love and welcome, and my current homes, the Chico Mendes Committee and the Pro-Indigenous Commission. This article reminds me how important it is to listen to causes that often go unnoticed. We need to pay attention and get involved to build a better future for all of us”, declared the winner.

The award-winning article, published on May 17, 2024, on National Day to Combat Homophobia, explored the creation of the first LGBTQIA+ Public Policy Observatory in Acre.
