It was a bang on the day before the National Council election: As DER STANDARD revealed at the end of September, the song was played at the funeral of the former FPÖ politician Walter Sucher, “old man” of the German nationalist fraternity Olympia When everyone becomes unfaithful sung – a song that is recorded in the SS songbooks as Treuelied became the anthem of Hitler’s Schutzstaffel (SS). On a video seen by STANDARD you can hear that the mourners sing the song and sing about “the holy German Reich” in honor of the former district councilor, real estate entrepreneur and lifelong right-wing extremist and revisionist who died at the age of 90.
