The president () stated this Thursday (28) that “no one else can deny” that there was a coup attempt to prevent him from assuming the Presidency of the Republic in January 2023.
“You know what is happening in world politics and in Brazilian politics. You know the amount of lies, hate, you know the coup attempt in 2008 [2022]which is now becoming true, no one can deny it anymore”, he stated.
“In fact, they tried to stage a coup to prevent us from assuming the Presidency of the Republic”, added Lula, in his first public demonstration on this topic after the indictment of the former president () and 36 other people in the investigation of the .
Lula participated in the launch ceremony of the Periferia Viva program, at Palácio do Planalto.
On Tuesday (26), the minister of the (Supreme Federal Court) decided to overturn the secrecy of the PF investigation into the 2022 coup plot.
The documents were also sent to the PGR (Attorney General’s Office), responsible for analyzing the evidence and deciding whether or not to report those being investigated.
According to the final report, the former president led the coup plot at the end of 2022, and the democratic rupture was not achieved due to “circumstances beyond his control”.
According to the PF, “the evidence obtained throughout the investigation unequivocally demonstrates” that Bolsonaro “planned, acted and had direct and effective control over the executional acts carried out by the criminal organization that aimed to carry out a coup d’état and the abolition of the democratic rule of law”.
