Between the 16th and 22nd of November, the stood out as the best-selling item in online shopping, according to data from consultancy Ebit|Nielsen. The Terra de Camões and Andorinhas brands, with their extra virgin olive oils, were the most sought after by consumers. In the first fortnight of the month, the product already occupied the second position in sales, showing a growth of 31.5% compared to the same period last year. In the last 12 months, olive oil prices have seen a significant increase, with inflation reaching almost 50%. In addition to olive oil, other products that caught consumers’ attention were cosmetics, such as L’Oréal’s hair restoration oil and Cerave’s moisturizing cream, which also stood out in sales.

Nielsen’s research analyzes the main e-commerce sites in Brazil and investigates consumers’ purchasing habits in the period leading up to Black Friday, scheduled for this Friday, November 29th. In 2024, the expectation is that purchases will be more distributed throughout the month, with around 25% of consumers choosing to make their purchases during the week of Black Friday, instead of concentrating everything just on Friday. Black Friday, which originated in the United States, takes place on the fourth Friday of November and signals the beginning of the year-end shopping season in Brazil.
