Fish – tiny but annoying pests
Ladybugs, or Lepisma saccharina, belong to small insects. It is characterized by an elongated body with long antennae and three long bristles at the end of the butt. It got its name based on its appearance, as its body is covered with silver scales. As a rule, it grows to a size of 1 to 2 cm.
Where in the home is it most often found?
Fish find warm and moist places such as bathrooms, toilets, kitchens and basements, where they feed on organic residues such as starch, flour, sugar, glue or paper.
What damage they cause
Although fish are not carriers of disease, they can cause significant damage to property. They damage books, wallpaper, clothing, food and other items made from organic materials.
The clove as an effective weapon
If you want to get rid of fish, use the power of cloves. It contains the substance eugenol, a natural oil with a strong aroma and antiseptic effects. This aroma is very unpleasant for fish and has a repulsive effect on them. Place this spice in places of possible occurrence, not only around the rooms, but also in cupboards, shelves and drawers with clothes or food.
Citrus fruits
In a similar way, you can also use the peel of citrus fruits, which contain essential oils that are unpleasant for these insects, to repel fish.
Bay leaf
Another spice that this troublesome insect hates is bay leaf. It has such a strong aroma for the fish that it irritates them, causing them to run away.
Vanilla pod
In the same way, the vanilla bean with its specific aroma is a perfect repellent. First, cut the pod lengthwise and then cut it into smaller pieces. Place them in the places of their most frequent occurrence. The fish should disappear within a few days.
Prevention of the occurrence of fish ponds
If you want to completely avoid fish in your home, pay attention to prevention. Clean regularly, remove food residues and keep the household dry.
Repair all plumbing leaks to prevent moisture build-up. Store food in closed containers so that the fish do not get to it, and also ventilate the apartment regularly.
