In Lisbon, where many bus stops do not offer adequate seats, a simple but significant gesture caught the attention of Lisbon residents. Two members of the Public Infrastructure group, motivated by the need to improve the city, decided to create wooden benches for stops without seats for passengers to sit on.
Using leftover wood and with the collaboration of a carpenter friend, the group produced a bench that was installed at a stop on Avenida Fontes Pereira de Melo. The initiative, reported by the website “A Mensagem”, had an immediate impact, providing comfort to dozens of people on the first day. Although simple, this gesture is essential for the many public transport users who face long waits without the possibility of sitting down.
The creators hope that this example will inspire broader changes, promoting a more accessible and comfortable city for everyone.
