Unusual in prison in the USA. Two inmates had a child without meeting

The two prisoners managed to have a child through insemination, with the sperm being transported between the cells through air ducts.

In a series of extraordinary and unconventional events, two inmates at Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center in Miami-Dade County managed to conceive a child despite never having met in person. Joan Depaz and Daisy Link, both in their 20s and incarcerated on separate murder charges, orchestrated a scheme to achieve paternity using the prison’s ventilation system.

The two inmates began communicating through the air ducts, which Link described as a system that allowed inmates to exchange messages by knocking on doors or leaning on toilets to talk between floors. Their connection deepened and Depaz, who wanted to have a child, proposed the idea to Link, who agreed. From there, the two devised a very unconventional method to achieve their goal.

Depaz masturbated and ejaculated onto adherent peccule several times a day over the course of a month, rolling the material into a compact cigarette-like shape. Using the air outlet, sent the semen packages to Link, who then used a yeast infection medication applicator to inseminate himself. Her persistence paid off, resulting in a pregnancy.

The baby, referred to by Link as a “miracle baby” and compared by Depaz to the “Virgin Mary”, was born on June 19 at Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami. Medical professionals confirmed that although the method used is unconventional and has a low probability of success, it is biologically possible.

Fernando Arkerman, medical director of the Fertility Center of Miami, noted that although this approach has a low chance of conception, it is not impossible, especially with consistent attempts, reports .

The couple’s story drew a lot of attention due to their unusual circumstances and the ingenuity behind their efforts. While his actions have sparked fascination and discussion, it is likely that ethical implications and procedural aspects of such activities in the prison system arouse scrutiny.

O future baby and the potential ramifications for Depaz and Link are not yet clear.
