Libertadores decision goes to extra time or direct penalty?
If the Libertadores final ends in a draw in normal time, there will be a 30-minute extra timewith two 15-minute halves. It has been like this since Conmebol instituted the final in a single game, in 2019.
If the tie persists into extra time, the game will go to a penalty shootout.
In 2021 and 2023, the decision was to be extended. In the first, Palmeiras broke the tie and beat Flamengo 2-1. In the second, Fluminense broke the tie and beat Boca Juniors 2-1.
Never has a Libertadores decision with a single ending gone to penalties.
