Bombings are carried out while Hamas leaders negotiate a ceasefire with Egyptian authorities this Saturday (Nov 30) in Cairo
Israeli air strikes in the Gaza Strip, carried out on Friday night (Nov 29) and this Saturday (Nov 30), left 32 people dead, as confirmed by local doctors. The fatalities occurred mainly in the north of the Palestinian territory, the agency reported.
The escalation of violence comes at a delicate moment, as Hamas leaders participate in ceasefire negotiations this Saturday (Nov 30) in Cairo, in a meeting mediated by Egyptian authorities. The meeting was planned following a ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hezbollah in Lebanon.
The Israeli army also reported this Saturday (30.nov) that it killed a militant involved in the extremist group’s attacks in Israel on October 7, 2023. According to Tel Aviv authorities, he also worked for the charity organization World Central Kitchen, based in the United States.
In southern Lebanon, an Israeli attack on a car injured 3 people, including a 7-year-old child, in the village of Majdal Zoun, according to a statement from the Lebanese Ministry of Health. Later, another person was injured in a separate attack in Al Bisariya, near the city of Sidon. The Israeli army said the target was a Hezbollah facility used to house rocket launchers.
Ceasefire AGREEMENT
The ceasefire agreement between Israel and Lebanon came into force at 11pm on Tuesday (Nov 26) Brasília time – at 4am this Wednesday (Nov 27) in Israel. The proposal determines the withdrawal of troops from southern Lebanon within 60 days.
Lebanese authorities will take over the south of the country and Hezbollah will be prevented from rebuilding bases on the border with Israel. The United States and France will join a committee to monitor the border region to ensure compliance with the agreement.
Israel reiterated during the announcement that it has the right to respond to the attack if Hezbollah violated the agreement.
