The Chamber of Deputies approved the , which determines specific training for educators who deal with students with ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder).
The approved text, which amends , also provides for the development of individualized education plans for these students.
According to the proposal, individual plans must be prepared in accordance with guidelines from education councils and other educational bodies, including individualized measures for the academic and social development of students with autism.
Author of the project, the deputy (PC of B-SP) states that the measure favors access, permanence, participation and learning for students with autism in schools.
The rapporteur, deputy (PC of B-MA), defended the approval of the project. He said that the provision of specific training and policies for students with ASD constitutes a necessary reinforcement within a logic that already exists in the Brazilian legal system.
The foresees the need for pedagogical projects that ensure specialized educational assistance and adaptations to meet the characteristics of students with disabilities, promoting their autonomy.

Recent data from the US CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention) indicate a significant increase in ASD diagnoses, rising from 1 in 166 children in 2004 to 1 in 54 in 2020.
