President of the PT states that the market is “so selfish that it doesn’t care about harming Brazil to try to reach” Lula
The president of the PT, (PR), said this Saturday (November 30, 2024) that the market would only accept a fiscal package that proposed a “total cut on social programs and the poorest”, which, according to her, “it wouldn’t make sense” in the government of the president (PT).
“These people are so selfish that they don’t care about harming Brazil to try to politically affect Lula’s government”declared the federal deputy on her (formerly Twitter) account.
Gleisi also criticized the “resistance of Brazilian elites” in supporting IR (Income Tax) relief for those earning up to R$5,000.
“They say the market is sizzling and increasing the dollar because of this. Lie, the market would sizzle anyway, on any program,” he said.
The measure is one of the initiatives of the fiscal package announced by the Minister of Finance, Fernando Haddad, on Wednesday (Nov 27).
The changes were not well received by the market, which reacted with a rise in the dollar. The North American currency ended Friday (Nov 29) quoted at R$6.001.
