Judge Marcos Alexandre Coelho Zilli took office at the São Paulo Court of Justice, on Thursday (28), in a ceremony led by the president of the court, judge Fernando Antonio Torres Garcia.
Marcos Zilli received the Judiciary Merit Necklace in the presence of his partner, Pedro Cabrera.
In his speech, according to the court’s news, the judge reflected on the role of the magistrate and the changes that permeated his career, preserving the essence of the profession.
“There is something indelible about Justice: the imperative of its realization by human conscience. As a value, Justice is born in the heart, fed by reason and revealed in the daily courage of actions. More than saying, Justice is listening”, he stated .
He paid tribute to his parents, José and Therezinha, and colleagues on the bench.
At the same ceremony, judge José Vitor Teixeira de Freitas was sworn in.
Zilli and Freitas came from the 160th Entrance Exam, in 1991. They replace, respectively, judges Walter da Silva and Vicente Antonio Marcondes D’Angelo, who retired.
“The afternoon is one of celebration and crowns a journey of 34 years of hard work and gratitude. Being in the presence of such brilliant people is very meaningful,” said Freitas.
He received the Judiciary Merit Necklace in the company of his daughter, judge Livia Santos Teixeira de Freitas.
Torres Garcia highlighted the careers of magistrates. “You don’t become a judge overnight. It’s a long and painful path, but extremely rewarding. If you were asked if you would do it all over again, I’m sure the answer would be ‘yes’, because that’s the spirit of the judge”, concluded.
The president of the Criminal Law Section, judge Adalberto José Queiroz Telles de Camargo Aranha Filho, greeted those sworn in to the court. He said that they “gave this sesquicentennial court the best of their lives, lending their vast legal knowledge to the pacification of conflicts, delivering technical, studied, reflected and fair decisions to those under the jurisdiction of São Paulo.”

He also worked in Osasco, Jardinópolis, Franco da Rocha and the Capital. He was removed to the position of substitute judge in the 2nd Degree in 2019.
José Vitor Teixeira de Freitas – Born in Santos (SP), in 1958. Graduated from the Catholic University of Santos, class of 1985. Joined the Judiciary in 1991, appointed substitute judge in Santos. He worked in Pedreira, Avaré, Suzano, Santos and the Capital. He was removed to the position of substitute judge in the 2nd Degree in 2019.
