The service is already “terrible” but this Monday, practically a year after the start of travel, there is a stoppage.
This Monday, December 2nd, is a (more) complicated day for anyone who wants to travel on a bus.
There is strike at AV Feirensecalled by the Federation of Transport and Communications Unions, which will affect transport in Vila Nova de Gaia and in Thorn.
AV Feirense operates, through its subsidiary Transportes Beira Douro, in the entire lot 4 of the Unir network (Vila Nova de Gaia and Espinho) and is also subcontracted in lot 2, operating in part of the municipalities of Gondomar, Paredes, Valongo and Santo Tirso.
The Center-North coordinator of the Union of Road and Urban Transport Workers of Portugal (STRUP), Hélder Borges, told the Lusa agency that the union tried to meet with the company, without success.
The union is also trying to arrange mediation of the labor conflict with the Directorate-General for Employment and Labor Relations (DGERT).
In turn, a source from AV Feirense says that it was the company that took the initiative to meet with the local STRUP coordination, but faced with the lack of response, it contacted the central structure in Lisbon.
The same source also regretted that it was not possible to reach “an agreement on the conditions for dialogue”.
The company also revealed to Lusa that, out of a total of around 600 drivers, 53 went on strike at the beginning of the month, and that the Average salary at the company is around 1,834 euros grossto which are added daily allowances of 260 euros.
However, several posters visible at this morning’s strike read: “Liars. Average salary of Feirense workers 1,839 euros – false”.
UNIR began circulating almost a year ago, on December 1, 2023. It unites 17 municipalities in the Metropolitan Region of Porto Alegre.
