Many products can be kept in the freezer for a long time, however, they usually lose their consistency and flavor after a few months. Therefore, it is better to follow the recommended time after which we should use it.

We often store fish in the freezer to keep it fresh. However, we should remember that cooked, regardless of type, should be frozen for a maximum of 3 months. Apart from that:

  • Oily fish among others salmon, catfish or tuna should be stored for 2-3 months.
  • Lean fish among others cod or halibut can be stored for 6-8 months.
  • Shrimp They will last the longest, they can be kept in the freezer for up to 18 months.

Buying fresh ones at a promotional price may be a good option because these types of products can be easily stored in the freezer. How long can individual meats be frozen? It is as follows:

  • All poultry among others chicken, duck or turkey can be stored in the freezer for a year.
  • Larger pieces of meat e.g. cutlets or fillets should be kept in the freezer for up to a year.
  • Minced meatregardless of the type, is suitable for consumption for 3-4 months.
  • Cold cuts and bacon should be kept in the freezer for a maximum of a month.

Most vegetables can be frozen for a year and use e.g. soup. But They should be blanched before placing them in the freezer — put them in hot water for a while, cool them down, put them in containers and then freeze them.

Importantly, frozen vegetables will not be suitable for salads after thawing, but they can be successfully used for soup, sauces or as an addition to meat.

  • Soups can be kept in the freezer for up to 2 months.
  • Desserts such as cookies last 6 months and frozen cake lasts 9 months.

Products that we plan to freeze should be placed in tight containers or bags. It is also worth describing them – sticking or writing directly on the packaging the date on which you put the item in the freezer.
