The second phase of Fuvest 2025entrance exam that gives access to USP (University of São Paulo), is composed of discursive questions and writinga different structure from the first stage of the entrance exam.
On November 17th, students asked a question with 90 multiple choice questions.
Now, whoever passes to , will respond to 10 Portuguese discursive questions and do the essay on the first day and, on the second, they are 12 essay questions two to four subjects specific to the career enrolled.
To help students with their answers, the teacher João Pistoscio Filhopedagogical coordinator of the Stage Course, spoke to CNN what candidates cannot fail to do in the second phase of the entrance exam.
According to the teacher, the secret to a good discursive response is follow command of the question. “Quote, explain and compare are commands that appear frequently in questions”, he said. And, if the student wants to give an explanation in a question that only asks to cite a fact, he will waste time on the test and also run the risk of explain something wrong and lose points.
Another tip is to use assertive languagethat is, “simple, clear, direct, objective and correct”. The teacher argues that a more concise answer is the way to get a good grade.
In exact questions that require calculations, Pistoscio Filho states that it is necessary show the sequence of steps that led to the correct answerbut you don’t need to show the accounts.

How to prepare well?
This final stretch to the second phase is the time to review and reinforce studies on students’ weak points.

The list of candidates for the second stage of the entrance exam is published on December 2ndas well as the test locations.
Selected candidates will undergo the second phase in December 15th and 16thwith Portuguese questions, , in addition to specific subjects.

- 2nd phase Fuvest 2025: December 15th and 16th, 2024;
- Specific skills tests: between December 9, 2024 and January 9, 2025, depending on the career;
