Publication on X (formerly Twitter) says that the government sent the text for analysis by congressmen, which has not yet been done
The president’s government (PT) made a mistake this Sunday (Dec 1, 2024) on X (formerly Twitter) when publishing a post stating that it sent the proposal to exempt IR (Income Tax) to the National Congress.
“The government sent a proposal to Congress to expand Income Tax exemption for those earning up to R$5,000. This is the biggest Income Tax reform in history”says the post do @govbr.
On Wednesday (Nov 27), the Minister of Finance, Fernando Haddad, announced, in a statement on national television, the government’s spending review package.
Haddad also stated that he will compensate for the waivers of the IR exemption with an increase in taxation for those who receive up to R$50,000 per month. No text with the exemption, however, was formally presented to the Legislature.
The measure has resistance in Congress and should only be sent in 2025.
On Friday (Nov 29), a PLP (Complementary Bill) and a PL (Bill) with the spending review package.
The texts are signed by the leader of the Government in the Chamber, (PT-CE). They authorize blocking parliamentary amendments, reviewing the BPC (Continuous Payment Benefit) and Bolsa Família, in addition to establishing limits for the growth of salaries and social security benefits within the fiscal framework.
A PEC (Proposed Amendment to the Constitution) must still be sent to Congress.
