But at first he thought it was just ingrown hairs that he decided to cover with his beard. A man for the next months he had no problems and went on with his life without any symptoms.

Later, however, a strange lump grew, and therefore he his mother forced him to be examined by a doctor. It was there that the football manager heard the shocking news. Indeed, the dermatologist thought it was no ordinary lump, but could be a growth called basal cell carcinoma (BCC). It is a type of non-melanoma skin cancer that most often occurs in the upper layer of the skin.

that BCC accounts for approximately 75% of all skin cancers. They pointed out that it usually grows very slowly and does not tend to spread to other parts of the body. The main symptom is a strange bump that appears in places that have been exposed to ultraviolet radiation, either from the sun or from a solarium. “We recommend regular use of sunscreen on skin regularly exposed to sunlightto reduce the risk of cancer,” they point out, noting that the disease is easily treatable if detected early.

Simon after the diagnosis he immediately underwent surgery in which surgeons removed the unusual lump. Now she has to wait a few weeks for the results of a biopsy to show if it was indeed cancerous.

The 50-year-old father of two hopes that he succeeds in raising awareness of the importance of getting any skin changes checked immediately. “I used to go to the tanning bed three times a week for six minutes without using sunscreen. I love the sun and going on vacation, and that’s exactly what they attribute it to,” he noted, and he urged all those who find themselves in a similar situation to see a doctor instead.
