Oatmeal versus regular flour
Although oatmeal may seem similar to many at first glance, there is a significant difference between them in terms of nutritional value and impact on our health. Oat flakes are made from the whole oat grain, which means that they retain all its important parts, i.e. bran, endosperm and germ, and contain valuable nutrients.
Fiber supports healthy digestion. Oatmeal has a low glycemic index, which means that after eating it, glucose is released into the blood more slowly. Thanks to this, we feel fuller for longer and avoid sudden fluctuations in sugar levels.
Oatmeal is an excellent source of B vitamins, iron and zinc, as well as vegetable proteins, which are essential for the growth and regeneration of muscle mass. Likewise, this type of flakes contains omega-3 fatty acids, which are important for heart and brain health. These unsaturated fats help lower cholesterol and have anti-inflammatory effects.
Ingredients needed
To make this bread, you will need 170g oat flakes or oat flour, 2 teaspoons baking powder, ½ teaspoon salt, 2 large eggs, 140g white full-fat yogurt or pure soy yogurt, 20ml olive oil and 1 teaspoon apple cider vinegar.
Easy Oatmeal Bread
First, put the oatmeal in a high-speed blender and grind it for 20 to 30 seconds into a fine flour. If you use oat flour, skip this step.
Put the crushed flakes into a large bowl, then mix them with the baking powder and salt. In the second container, mix the eggs, full-fat yogurt, olive oil and a little apple cider vinegar, which will make the pastry much fluffier as a result.
Make a small hole in the center of the oatmeal and pour the prepared mixture into it. Then work all the ingredients properly to create a compact dough without lumps. Make a bun out of it and place it in a baking dish that you have previously greased with oil or lined with baking paper.
Place the bread prepared in this way in a preheated oven at 180 °C and bake for 30 to 40 minutes. In order to know that the bread is sufficiently cooked, perform the well-known test with a toothpick, which should be clean and not stuck when inserted into the center. Allow the bread to cool for at least 15 minutes before serving.
