Spicy cake is one of the simplest winter desserts that is not only quick to make, but also delicious. The baked goods are made of unique ingredients, and they include: sweet and ripe bananas. Thanks to them, the cake has such a good taste, and the addition of spices only enhances it. Fruits make it the cake remains moist and soft for a long time. It’s as easy to make as banana bread – just mix dry and wet ingredients togetherand then bake the combined mass. The spiced cake can be eaten plain, but it tastes great spread on it jam or dusted powdered sugar.
Ingredients:
- 3 ripe bananas,
- 180 g of wheat flour,
- 140 g of powdered sugar,
- 70 g melted butter or rapeseed oil,
- 70 g applesauce,
- 3 tablespoons of almond paste or peanut butter,
- a teaspoon of cinnamon,
- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg,
- a pinch of dried ginger,
- half a teaspoon of baking soda,
- half a teaspoon of baking powder,
- half a teaspoon of vanilla extract,
- a pinch of salt.
How to do it:
Peel the bananas and mash them in a large bowl. Mix with sugar, shortening, almond paste or peanut butter, applesauce and vanilla extract.
Sift the wheat flour into another bowl, add all the spices, baking soda and baking powder. Stir gently.
Pour the loose products into the banana mixture. Mix briefly, just until the ingredients are combined. Pour the dough into a tin of approximately 26 × 15 cm lined with baking paper. Bake at 170 degrees Celsius for 25-30 minutes. If it starts to brown on top, cover it with foil while baking.
You can serve the spiced cake with whipped cream, jam, icing or on its own.
