20 thousand retirees bought tickets through Voa Brasil

Airlines offered 3 million tickets; INSS beneficiaries can buy tickets for up to R$200 each way

Twenty thousand people retired by the (National Social Security Institute) have already traveled or will travel to a destination within the country through . This represents less than 1% (around 0.6%) of the 3 million tickets offered by airlines. According to , the tickets were purchased and issued in the last 4 months.

In the program, tickets cost up to R$200 each way. The trips were made to 77 cities. Almost 80% of tickets were taken to São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Fortaleza, Recife, Brasília, Salvador, João Pessoa, Natal, Maceió and Belo Horizonte. These capitals were the top 10 destinations.

The Southeast (44%) and Northeast (40%) regions were the most sought after. The Central-West was the destination for 8% of tickets issued; the South, 5%; and the North, 3%.

According to the Minister of Ports and Airports, the numbers show that the government’s objective with the program is being achieved, which is to include more Brazilians in air transport.

“These retirees have not flown for at least 1 year and are filling seats that would otherwise be empty, as they are made available by airlines in sections with high idleness”these.

According to Voa Brasil rules, each person retired by INSS can buy tickets for up to 2 flights per year. The purchase must be made exclusively at .

The ministry warns that the Gov.br domain is the only one guaranteed to protect personal data. “When you receive content relating to Voa Brasil with links, avoid clicking. Enter the program’s official website or access it through your Gov.br login”these.

The program, which was launched at the end of July this year, will be extended to low-income students in the 1st semester of 2025.
