“Sabotage is suspected”in turn, the Minister of Civil Defense of Sweden, Carl-Oskar Bohlin, took over, as cited by the French newspaper .
Currently, no criminal investigation is taking place.
Fingers pointed at Russia
This incident occurred after, last month, two were cut – one connecting Finland and Germany, and the other between Sweden and Lithuania.
It is not known at this time whether there is any connection between the two episodes.
Suspicions of sabotage lead to pointing fingers at Russiaespecially at a time when one from the country was spotted off the coast of several NATO countries, including Portugal, in maneuvers with unknown objectives.
It is believed that the Russian ship was carrying out submarine cable tracking. But he is also known for carrying out sabotage operations.
Also seen was a chinese ship sailing close to the cable that connected Sweden to Lithuania and which appeared cut.
