The national president of the PT, Gleisi Hoffmann (PR), criticized, on the networks, a message on Sunday (1) in honor of Sailor’s Day, celebrated on December 13th.
The video contrasts scenes of training and military action with images of civilians in moments of leisure, such as on the beach and at parties. “Although their work is far from the eyes of many citizens, and often seems invisible, they [os marinheiros] are always present”, highlights the Navy’s post.
This Monday (2), Gleisi said, on social media, that the disclosure is a serious mistake. “No one doubts that military service requires effort and personal sacrifices, especially from troops who put themselves at risk in training and do hard work. This does not make military citizens more deserving of respect than the civilian population, who work hard, do not live in party”, said Gleisi, in the post.
The PT president also highlights the fact that the video was released when the former Navy commander, Admiral Almir Garnier, is indicted for an alleged coup attempt in 2022, to prevent the inauguration of President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva.
“It is also serious that the offensive video is released at a time when a former Navy commander is indicted for participating in Jair Bolsonaro’s coup plan.”
On social media, the celebration video was the target of criticism, irony and criticism. In , several internet users pointed out that the Armed Forces insinuate, with the play’s narrative, a reality where only the military works while other people “enjoy life”.
