Partnership between ministries aims to include 12,300 communities in the postal system, facilitating access to services
The federal government announced the launch of the “for All” program last Thursday (28.Nov.2024). The initiative aims to extend postal addresses to 12,300 favelas and urban communities across the country by 2026.
The announcement took place during the presentation of the “Periferia Viva” program at Palácio do Planalto, with the presence of ministers Juscelino Filho (Communications) and Jader Barbalho Filho (Cities), in addition to President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT).
The program is an expansion of a pilot project carried out in the Paraisópolis community, in São Paulo. It relies on a technical partnership between Correios and the National Secretariat of Peripheries, of the Ministry of Cities, aiming at the universalization of the CEP (Postal Address Code).
The objective of “CEP for All” is to provide an official postal address for localities, guaranteeing the presence of Correios in 100 favelas. According to the government, the measure aims to promote the social and economic inclusion of less favored communities, facilitating access to goods, services and participation in the digital and global economy.
President Lula, when commenting on the program, defended the importance of public policies. “I want to congratulate the ministries involved in the actions of this program because it is not easy for us to decide to make public policy for the most humble. It’s always very difficult”these.
In addition to the traditional code, the program will also develop the Digital CEP, using geoprocessing technologies to strengthen the postal infrastructure and contribute to the expansion and universalization of services. The advance seeks to increase the quality and efficiency in the provision of public services.
“The CEP facilitates access to goods and services, promotes business and transforms disadvantaged communities into active participants in the digital and global economy”said Juscelino Filho.
