As part of the program of the Brussels meeting, a discussion on Russian hybrid attacks or sabotage against NATO members is also expected.

The foreign ministers of NATO member countries are meeting in Brussels on Tuesday for two days of negotiations aimed at supporting Ukraine defending itself against the Russian invasion. The head of Ukrainian diplomacy Andriy Sybiha will also take part in the meeting, who will inform his counterparts about the current situation at the front, writes TASR according to the report of the DPA agency.

In a letter last week, Sybiha asked NATO ministers to support the decision to invite Ukraine to the Alliance at the meeting. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyi, on the other hand, has indicated that he is willing to end the war with Russia if NATO provides protection to the Ukrainian territory currently controlled by Kyiv.

“If we want to stop the hot phase of the war, we must take the territory of Ukraine under NATO’s protective umbrella,” Zelenskyy said in an interview with Sky News.

Although all member states of the Alliance confirmed at the July summit in Washington that Ukraine is on an “irreversible path” to membership, the USA, Germany and other countries, including Slovakia, refuse to invite Kyiv for fear of an escalation of the conflict.

Another topic of the ministerial meeting will be the recent Russian attack with the experimental hypersonic missile Orešnik (Lieska) on the eastern Ukrainian city of Dnipro. They will also assess the needs of Ukraine in the area of air defense.

The Russian military claims that the new medium-range missile can hit targets across Europe and even modern air defense systems cannot stop it.

According to DPA, a discussion on Russian hybrid attacks or sabotage against NATO members is also expected as part of the program of the Brussels meeting, DPA added.
