Strike: Lisbon metro with all stations closed

The partial strike will last this Tuesday until 10 am, and circulation is expected to return to normal at 10:30 am. The strike should be repeated along the same lines on December 10th.

In a statement, the company says that it did everything to avoid this strike and that it “continues committed to maintaining negotiations with workers to put an end to these differences”.

Metro de Lisboa clarifies that, in a negotiation meeting held on Monday, the transport company “presented concrete and credible proposals to the union organizations, accepting the procedures claimed for the years 2023 and following, regarding the majority of variable remunerations in cause (four of the seven situations under discussion)”.

The company also proposed the continuation of negotiations in relation to other variables, as well as the revision of the Career Regulations, as per the proposal already presented.

“This opening of the Metropolitano de Lisboa to achieve balanced solutions for the benefit of all parties involved, did not receive the necessary support from the trade union organizations, despite the progress made and the constructive spirit that presided over the negotiations”, says the company.

In the note, he regrets that “despite his efforts, it was not possible to reach an agreement that would result in an immediate improvement in the remuneration conditions of his workers and avoid the inconvenience caused by the strike to his customers”.

The company also says it hopes that at the meeting already scheduled to continue negotiations, it will be possible to reach a structural and lasting understanding“, reiterating that, “at this moment, it does not require any debt or late payment from its workers”.

Circulation should resume at 10:30

Lisbon Metro workers are on partial strike this Tuesday, which is repeated on December 10thbetween 05:00 and 10:00, to demand the resolution of the carrier’s “successive non-compliances” regarding payments for so-called variables, that is, overtime and holidays, and compliance with the Company Agreement.

A circulation should be back to normal from 10:30.
