The United States has issued new restrictions on the export of computer chips and their manufacturing equipment to China. The measures are aimed at disrupting China’s ability to produce advanced semiconductors that can be used in a new generation of modern weapons systems and in computers that may have military uses, the Commerce Department’s Bureau of Industry and Security announced Monday (Dec. 2). TASR informs about it based on the report of the DPA agency.

The measures target semiconductor manufacturing equipment and software tools that contribute to the modernization of China’s military, the authority said. At the same time, the administration of President Joe Biden added more than 100 Chinese companies to the so-called blacklist.

US companies cannot enter into contracts with companies on this list or supply them with technology and components without a special license. The measures came into effect on Monday.
