This will be Trump’s first trip abroad since winning the presidential election
The President-elect of the United States, Donald Trump, announced that he will attend, on Saturday, the reopening of Notre-Dame cathedral in Paris, where around 50 heads of state and government are expected.
“I am honored to announce that I will travel to Paris, France, on Saturday, to attend the reopening of the magnificent and historic Notre-Dame cathedral, which has been completely restored”, wrote, on Monday, the republican on his social network TruthSocial.
This will be Trump’s first trip abroad since winning the November 5 presidential election.
Notre-Dame de Paris cathedral, a masterpiece of 12th century Gothic art, was partially devastated by a fire on April 15, 2019.
The fire, whose causes have not yet been determined, triggered a flow of donations to rebuild the building, located in the heart of Paris and one of the most visited monuments in Europe.
“The President [francês] Emmanuel Macron has done a remarkable job to ensure that Notre-Dame is restored to all its glory and more,” praised Trump.
Several foreign leaders were invited to the reopening, but the official list of those present has not yet been released.
