Minister of the Interior Matúš Šutaj Eštok (Hlas-SD) considers the planned trip of the President of the SNS and the Vice-President of the National Council of the Slovak Republic, Andrej Danko, to Moscow to be trampled. He believes that it will have some benefit for Slovakia. He has no information that members of the Hlas party would travel with Danko.
“Foreign policy today is made up of the Prime Minister, the President, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and the Minister of the Economy, maybe even the Speaker of the Parliament, who also know how to influence it. The delegation in such a composition gives me the sense that it can pronounce something, influence something, either from the point of view of foreign relations or business,” noted Šutaj Eštok.
He pointed out that the war in Ukraine will end one day and every country will then want to restore relations with Russia. According to the minister, Slovakia is dependent on mineral resources, which is why negotiations with the Russians after the military conflict make sense. “They make sense even during this period, if it makes sense for Slovakia, but the key stakeholders have to do it,” stated Šutaj Eštok.
