There were at least 9 deaths in southern Lebanon this Monday. There has been no truce since the signing of the ceasefire on Wednesday, and attacks by Israel and Hezbollah continue.
On Monday, Hezbollah fired two projectiles towards Israeli-occupied territory in response to repeated Israeli attacks that have hit Lebanon daily since Thursday, the day after the law came into force, says CNN.
The IDF (Israel Defense Forces) stated that the two Hezbollah projectiles were fired towards Shebaa Farms, known in Israel as Har Dov (Mount Dov), which, according to international law, is considered occupied Syrian territory.
The projectiles did not cause any deaths, but the same cannot be said of the Israeli response. Hours later, the armed forces of the country, which borders Lebanon to the north, say having attacked “Hezbollah terroristsdozens of launchers and terrorist infrastructure across Lebanon,” after Prime Minister Benjamin Benjamin Netanyahu promised to retaliate, calling the attack Hezbollah “a serious violation of the ceasefire.”
They will have done at least 9 deaths.
The attacks came, the IDF reports, “in response to several acts by Hezbollah in Lebanon that represented a threat to Israeli civilians, in violation of agreements between Israel and Lebanon“.
The Israeli government also guarantees that it hit military vehicles in a Hezbollah missile manufacturing site in the Beqaa Valley and tunnels near the Syrian border in norte from Lebanon.
But it is not just in the south or north of Lebanon that . According to Lebanese media, Israeli drones circulate around the capital, Beirut. The US and France have already warned Israel that what has happened is a violation of the ceasefire.
Still, the US State Department spokesman, Matthew Millerstated on Monday that the truce had not been broken. “In general”, the ceasefire “has been successful”he stated.
“The presence of Hezbollah operatives south of Litani (Lebanon) is a fundamental breach of the agreement and they must move north”, saidand Gideon Zaar, Israeli Foreign Minister, in a , adding that Israel is “committed to the successful implementation of the ceasefire agreements.”
A source from the United Nations peacekeeping force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) told CNN that Israel has violated the ceasefire agreement with Lebanon “approximately 100” times since the truce came into force last week.
The ceasefire signed last week provides for 60 days of truce between the two countries, and the Hezbollah members must withdraw 40 kilometers, along with a withdrawal of Israeli troops of the country.
