The Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) sent a letter to the Military Police of the State of Minas Gerais (PMMG), this Tuesday (3), in which it requests a reassessment regarding the safety of the match between Cruzeiro and Palmeirasfor the 37th round of Series A.
Until then, the game scheduled for 9:30 pm (Brasília time) this Wednesday (4), at Mineirão, will be behind closed doors.
“In view of the above, the CBF requests PMMG to reevaluate its previously issued statement”, published the entity in the letter sent to PMMG. Still in the document, the CBF emphasizes that it only allows the presence of the public in the case of Cruzeirenses and Palmeirenses at Mineirão.
Isonomy
Last Sunday (1st), security exposed by MPMG and PMMG.
The possibility of a single crowd was also rejected by the entity, which valued the principle of isonomy, given that the Cruzeiro fans were visitors to the game against Palmeiras in São Paulo.
Process and Justice
In view of the entity’s position, in the 11th Civil Court of the District of Belo Horizonte, against the CBF. In the action, the Government of Minas and MPMG ask that the CBF allow the presence of only Cruzeiro fans.
However, the 4th Court of State Public Finance and Local Authorities of Belo Horizonte has not yet given an opinion on the petition. In a document signed by judge Cláudia Aparecida Coimbra Alves, the public body declared itself incapable of judging the merits of the Public Civil Action (ACP), proposed by the Government of Minas and the MPMG.
Still no response
A Itatiaia sent the CBF’s decision to vice-governor Mateus Simões (Novo), who has been following the situation and was the voice of the government responsible for asking for a single supporter, and to the communications team of the Government of Minas.
The report also contacted the Consumer Protection Prosecutor of the Public Ministry of Minas Gerais, Fernando Ferreira Abreu, mentioned in the CBF document. So far, none of those mentioned have commented on the matter.
For the match to take place under the terms established by the CBF, the Government of Minas and the Military Police of Gerais need to activate the CBF again and guarantee the safety of Cruzeiro and Palmeiras fans.
Furthermore, the State would have to retreat from the position of vice-governor Mateus Simões, who asked for only Cruzeiro fans, and agree with the CBF on the presence of Palmeiras fans in Mineirão. According to the CBF, the Military Police also needs to review its previous position.
As the match between the 1st round had two fans, the highest football entity states that the presence of only Cruzeiro fans violates “the principles of equality and technical balance” of the match.
