Debbie Nelson, the rapper’s mother, died at the age of 69 last Monday night (2/12). She was treating someone diagnosed in September this year, and did not survive the complications of the disease.
The singer had a troubled relationship with his mother. Early in his career, the rapper accused Debbie Nelson of being negligent and abusive. Debbie sued him for defamation in 1999 and also wrote a tell-all memoir in 2007, My Son Marshall, My Son Eminem.
At the time of publication, the singer had not commented on his mother’s death on social media. The relationship between them remained distant, even after Debbie discovered the disease.
