The president of , (-AL), stated that the president () is a very strong candidate for reelection if he arrives in the election year with the economy doing well.
“Every candidate for re-election, if the economy is well situated, is very strong”, he pointed out. He made the assessment at the Jota Forum, held this Wednesday (4) in Brasília. The president of the STF (Supreme Federal Court), , and the Minister of Finance, , also participated in the event.
On the right, he said he did not see any other candidate other than former president Jair Bolsonaro (PL). “If he is eligible or not, we will know during the election period. Lula has already contested elections like this”, he recalled.
He made reference to the 2018 election, when the PT member was head of the PT ticket despite being in prison and was only replaced by Haddad as candidate shortly before the first round.
“If this scenario happens, other options will become scarce,” he continued, referring to possible third-way applications.
Lira was also asked about his future after leaving city hall. He responded that he is focused on managing his succession and does not create expectations about what will happen next.
