Presenter debuts on the network on December 9th with the newspaper “Tá na Hora”; I was in the “Band” for 21 years
O SBT announced this Wednesday (Dec 4, 2024) the hiring of the presenter. In , the broadcaster announced that Datena will lead the newspaper It’s time from Monday (Dec 9, 2024).
“The management of SBT is pleased to officially announce that José Luiz Datena, one of the most renowned communicators on Brazilian television, is the station’s newest hire”he said in a note.
Datena commanded the program Brazil Urgent already Band for more than 20 years. The broadcaster confirmed the end of the contract at the end of November.
The decision not to renew the contract came after the 2024 municipal elections. The presenter ran for Mayor of São Paulo for the PSDB. He came in 5th place in the 1st round, with 1.84% of the votes.

“Coming to SBT is fulfilling my dream of working in the house that was created by the greatest presenter of all time. Silvio Santos was and will always be my idol and my reference”Datena said in the statement.
PRESENTER’S TRAJECTORY
Datena has already worked as a journalist at Globo, Record, RedeTV! e Band. The presenter started as a sports reporter in 1996.
Commanded the Brazil Urgent in Band from March 10, 2003 with the departure of Roberto Cabrini.
In 2011, Datena left the Band and signed with Record to resume the City Alerta program he led for just 43 days. Disagreements between the presenter and the journalism management previously terminated the 5-year contract.
Datena returned to Band to command the Brazil Urgent until 2018, when he left the program to run for Senate in that year’s elections. It is the first time that the presenter has led a program on SBT.
