Donald Trump
The US president-elect distanced himself from the controversial program during the campaign. But his recent choices reveal otherwise.
O Project 2025, in the US, is a compilation of policies advocated by various groups ultraconservadores. It is a controversial program developed by think tank Heritage Foundation.
The program includes dismantling several federal government agencies and firing thousands of employees to replace them with people loyal to Donald Trump who, without objection, would apply an ultra-conservative agenda.
The document proposes, for example, that the entire federal bureaucracy, including independent agencies such as the Department of Justice, be placed under direct presidential control. More power for the president.
Donald Trump walked away of this project. More than once.
“I don’t know anything about Project 2025. I have no idea who is behind it. I don’t agree with some of the things they say and some of the things they say are absolutely ridiculous and abysmal”, wrote the then candidate, on the Truth Social network.
As for Kamala Harris: “As you know, and as she knows, I have nothing to do with Project 2025. It (the document) is there, I haven’t read it. I don’t want to read it, on purpose. I won’t read it.”
But, already at the time, there was an indication that at least 140 people who worked in the White House during Trump’s first term were involved with Project 2025, in some way.
Now it is clear: this project is already “infiitrar-se” clearly in the Trump administration. Even before taking office.
The “infiltration” already started to be highlighted in the magazine, a few weeks ago: the nominations of Brendan Carr (communications coordinator) and Tom Homan (immigration) were the first signs.
Brendar Carr wrote one of the chapters of Project 2025, about the Federal Telecommunications Commission; and was a Heritage Foundation Fellow and his name appears as one of the contributors to Project 2025.
The adds that the controversial document is clearly integrated into Donald Trump’s plans.
The newspaper also cites the case of John Ratcliffe, who will be the next director of the CIA – and also contributed to the preparation of the project.
Without forgetting what you will do Elon Musk in the new Department of Government Efficiency, a direct descendant of Project 2025, namely in the part of “dismantling the administrative state and returning self-governance to the American people”, or “reducing the Federal Government to its size”; and we will see if he will really fire thousands of employees, just as he defended… Project 2025.
With these obvious connections between Donald Trump’s choices and the project, he adds: “Trump rejected Project 2025 during the campaign. Not anymore.”
It is another of the many examples that prove that campaigning should not be confused with governing.
