Ukraine attacks air base and seaport in Russia

Also this Wednesday, Russian authorities reported having shot down 35 drones launched by the Ukrainian army against several regions of the country, as part of the war unleashed after the invasion in February 2022.

Ukrainian authorities said this Wednesday that they had attacked “one of the main air bases” for Russian aviation and also hit a Black Sea port that houses Russian missile ships used in attacks on Ukraine.

The head of the Center against Disinformation of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, Andri Kovalenko, said that Ukrainian forces attacked the Diaguilevo air base, one of the main bases of Russian strategy, in Ryazan, less than 200 kilometers from Moscow.

“The port of Novorosisk, where the Russian Federation has missile carriers used in bombings against Ukraine, was attacked,” Kovalenko added.

Ukraine regularly attacks airfields and other military targets with self-made long-range drones.

A Ukraine has already used American ATACMS missiles and British Storm Shadow missiles against targets located in the Russian regions of Kursk and Bryansk, on the border with Ukraine.

Russia claims to have shot down more than 30 drones

Also this Wednesday, Russian authorities reported having shot down 35 drones launched by the Ukrainian army against several regions of the country, as part of the war unleashed after the invasion in February 2022.

The Russian Defense Ministry said in a statement published on its Telegram account that its anti-aircraft defense systems initially shot down 24 drones launched against Rostov, Bryansk, Belgorod, Ryazan, Krasnodar and Astrakhan.

It later announced the destruction of another 11 drones, including six launched against Rostov, two against Kursk and one against Bryansk, Ryazan and Kaluga, respectively.

The Ministry accused Kiev of “attempting to carry out terrorist attacks” against its territory, without saying whether there were victims or material damage.
