The Internal Affairs Unit has arrested a captain of the Civil Guard for his involvement with a drug trafficking plot in the Port of Valencia, as sources close to the investigation have confirmed to EL PAÍS. The agent investigated was a lieutenant in the Valencian port, and after being promoted to captain he found himself without a destination. The arrested person is being investigated for drug trafficking, bribery, money laundering, criminal organization and failure to prosecute crimes, according to legal sources.
The investigation began two years ago, according to other sources. During the investigations, Internal Affairs agents have thoroughly searched one of the homes of the investigated agent. The case is directed by the Central Court of Instruction Number 1 of the National Court, which has declared it secret, and there are more people involved.
