Government presented 2 projects; the PLP passed with just 3 more votes than necessary, while PL had the approval of 267 deputies
The deputies on Wednesday (4.Dec.2024) the urgency (which speeds up the analysis) of 2 projects from the president’s government Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) with proposals to cut expenses.
The PLP (Complementary Law Project) had 260 votes in favor –3 more than necessary to pass. They were 98 votes against e 2 obstructions. The PL (Bill) had 267 “sim” e 156 “no”.

UNDERSTAND THE PACKAGES
Read the main points of each project presented:
- PL: establishes the limitation of real earnings from the minimum wage to the limits of the fiscal framework. In other words, it will be adjusted for inflation and a real gain of between 0.6% and 2.5%. The current legislation talks about inflation plus the variation in GDP (Gross Domestic Product). The project also brings new rules in social programs, to clean up the system;
- PLP: authorizes the government to limit the use of tax credits if there is a deficit in public accounts. It also allows the Union to use the surplus of 8 national funds.
There is also a PEC (Proposed Amendment to the Constitution), which has not yet been analyzed and will be intended to speed up the processing.
- PEC: establishes a gradual cut in access to the salary bonus of 1 minimum wage per year.
