When the current Government took office, the Agency for Integration, Migrations and Asylum had around 400,000 pending immigration regularization processes, a figure inherited with the extinction of the SEF.
The Government says it has already managed to resolve more than half of the 400,000 pending immigrant cases. In an interview with Público and Renascença, António Leitão Amaro also spoke about the State Budget, warning that the intervention of the PS and Chega carries risks for execution.
When the Government took office, the there were around 400,000 pending immigration regularization processes, a figure inherited with the extinction of the SEF.
Almost three months ago, a mission structure began operating with a large call center, which was created to resolve this delay.
In the first assessment, the minister responsible for migrations announced that more than half of these processes have already been dealt with and that, by next summer, the rest should be completed.
Leitão Amaro highlighted that the State’s response has accelerated in recent months, also due to the increase in daily services.
Government objectives at risk?
When taking stock of the State Budget, António Leitão Amaro says that the PS and Chega are responsible for measures that involve one billion euros in expenditure, an intervention that carries risks.
The Presidency Minister also warns that the economic situation could compromise government objectives, such as the bonus for retirees next year, if the crises in France and Germany have a greater impact on Portugal.
