OAB elections become a springboard for the Federal Council – 12/05/2024 – Power

Presidents of sections of the state and the Federal District were reappointed to the position or elevated to the Federal Council of the entity in elections marked by the victory of candidates from the situation.

The process of choosing legal representatives began on November 17th and lasted until last Saturday (30th), when the OAB Piauí election took place, the last in the states. The mandates are for the next three years, from 2025 to 2027.

The majority of state sections (14) opted for the re-election of their representatives: Acre, Alagoas, Amazonas, Bahia, Goiás, Maranhão, Mato Grosso, Mato Grosso do Sul, Paraíba, Rio Grande do Sul, Rondônia, Roraima, Sergipe and Tocantins.

Of the 26 elected to lead entities across the country, only 4 were from the opposition. Érica Neves (OAB Espírito Santo) and Sávio Barreto (OAB Pará) defeated the current presidents. Israel Gonçalves da Graça (OAB Amapá) and Raimundo Júnior (OAB Piauí) beat candidates supported by the current management.

In the last election for sectionals, in Piauí, the current president, Celso Barros Coelho Neto, ran as a candidate for substitute federal councilor on the ticket headed by Aurélio Lobão Lopes.
