A motion of impeachment against President Yun was tabled in parliament on Tuesday, paving the way for a vote that could lead to the ouster of the head of state over his failed attempt to declare martial law.

If Yoon is ousted, the prime minister will take over as president on an interim basis Han Dak-soo and elections will be held within 60 days.
