The president-elect announced today that he has selected Peter Navarro to serve as his trade and manufacturing adviser.
Navarro was the director of the National Trade Council during Trump’s first term. “In my first term, few have been more effective or unyielding than Peter in enforcing my two sacred rules: we buy American (products), we hire American,” the president-elect said in a post on Truth Social.
Navarro was sentenced last January to four months in prison for contempt of Congress for ignoring a subpoena he received from the committee investigating the January 6, 2021 attack by Trump supporters on Capitol Hill.
The new head of NASA
Trump also chose Jared Isaacman, a longtime associate of Elon Musk and his space company SpaceX, as the new head of NASA. Isaacman is CEO of payments management company Shift4 Payments and head of Polaris, a program to send private astronauts into Earth orbit on SpaceX spacecraft.
“Jared (…) will pave the way for groundbreaking achievements in science, technology and space exploration,” Trump said.
If approved, Isaacman will head an agency with a $25 billion budget. dollars, whose goal is to repeat manned missions to the Moon, with the Artemis program, which Trump promoted during his first term. This program will rely heavily on SpaceX’s Starship spacecraft.
