Images from a security camera show the moment a woman invaded the Municipal Hospital of Quedas do Iguaçu, in southwestern Paraná, and stabbed a man on a stretcher with at least 30 stab wounds. He survived the attack.
In the video, the woman goes to the Mobile Emergency Care Service (Samu) stretcher in the hospital corridor, and stabs the man. Other people at the scene move away from the stretcher while the woman continues the attack. The man tries to defend himself.
The man had been taken to the city’s municipal hospital on Tuesday (3) moments after being stabbed by the same woman in another part of the city.
The attacks last about a minute until rescuers manage to remove the stretcher from the scene. The woman remained with the knife in her hand until the police arrived at the hospital.
To the Civil Police, the woman stated that the man is a friend with whom she would share the rent and that he tried to grab her and threatened her, which led her to stab the victim. She was arrested in the act for the attacks and must face charges of attempted murder.
The identification of the victim and the attacker were not disclosed by the investigation.
The man was hit in the head, chest and neck. He was taken to the Cascavel University Hospital, in the west of the state, and despite his injuries, his injuries are not life-threatening, according to the City of Quedas do Iguaçu.
City Hall reported that upon entering the hospital, the woman did not raise any suspicions. The knife was hidden in a bag. The management also stated that the site has property security and that the case was “a sporadic, isolated incident” and that it will investigate a possible security breach.
