The orchid is one of the plants that will light up your windowsill even in winter. It is enough if you support their flowering with one ingredient. Which one?
Few flowers have such beautiful flowers as the orchid. This tropical beauty can shine in all colors – from yellow, pink, white, to green or purple. Its flowers are so abundant that you feel as if you are in a tropical paradise. “I’ve been growing orchids for years and I can’t praise them enough. They are undemanding and, unlike ordinary flowers, they don’t need that much,” says Mrs. Jana from Přerov.

Unpretentious beauty
Thanks to their unpretentiousness, orchids are a decoration not only for home, but also for office spaces. In order to bloom nicely, in addition to water and light, they also need a good portion of nutrition from time to time. Of course, there are many types of fertilizers on the market, but you can make an equally effective preparation yourself at home. You just need two ingredients and your flower beauty will bloom beautifully after them and even in winter!
A little life…
The growing season of orchids is from April to August. During that time, the plant is fertilized every two weeks, but as the colder months come, its requirements become more and more modest. In winter, the orchid goes into vegetative sleep and should stop fertilizing.
But what to do if your “green pride” outside the window seems weakened and needs a boost? According to growers, you can give it some life with a mixture of aloe vera and carrots.
Vitamin bomb
“This combination is the perfect elixir of life for an orchid. Carrots will supply the plant with a lot of nutrients, such as iron, potassium, nitrogen or vitamins A, K and C. In contrast, aloe vera will supplement potassium, phosphorus and boron, which will support plant growth,” says experienced orchid grower, Mrs. Jana z Přerova.
The preparation of this floral doping is simple: peel the carrot and cut it into small pieces together with the aloe vera leaf. Put everything in a blender, add 500 ml of water and blend until smooth. Then strain to remove any lumps. Dilute the finished stimulator with 2.5 liters of water and use as a dressing.
Doping in the dressing
Water your orchids every two weeks with this intensive treatment. Alternatively, once a month you can wipe the leaves of the plant with the solution so that it receives another portion of vitamins. An orchid cared for in this way will have strong roots, green leaves and will even bloom in winter!
