The richest man in the world, Elon Musk, spent a small part of his immense fortune on supporting Donald Trump’s campaign for the United States presidential elections. The new documents registered this Thursday with the Federal Electoral Commission show that the bill paid by the magnate was much larger than what was known until now and that it ended up exceeding 260 million dollars (close to 250 million euros), as far as is known. . All in all, the move was very profitable. After the elections, the value of his companies (and with it that of his fortune) has skyrocketed to all-time highs. This Thursday alone it increased by $8.3 billion, reaching an all-time record of $362 billion. What he contributed represents only 0.07% of his wealth.

The largest contributions were made through his America PAC committee, which focused on supporting Trump in the decisive states and, particularly, in Pennsylvania. That organization financed the raffles – which later turned out not to be such – of one million dollars a day for supporters of their cause. estimates Musk’s contributions to said fund at $238.52 million.

In addition, this Thursday it was also known that Musk contributed $20.5 million to a until now mysterious political committee called RBG PAC. Its only financier was the Elon Musk Revocable Trust fund, domiciled in Austin (Texas), where the tycoon has his residence. He deposited that amount on October 24. The organization, which did not disclose its donors before the election, sent emails and text messages in which it stated that Trump did not support a federal ban on abortion and, with all the brazenness, equated the Republican candidate’s position with that of the late progressive Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg.

The new documents reveal that Musk also donated three million dollars at the end of October to a committee that supported the campaign. Make America Healthy Again, of Robert F. Kennedy, who by then was also an ally of Trump.

In total, then, Musk contributed $262 million to these three organizations, which probably makes him the most prolific donor to the Republican campaign. After the election, Musk has become Trump’s apparent right-hand man. He accompanied him for days at Mar-a-Lago, went with him to New York for an evening of wrestling and invited him to the launch of his Starship at the Space X base in Brownsville (Texas).

The magnate has been commissioned to direct the self-styled Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), in charge of a drastic reform of the Administration, but also of eliminating regulations. From his position (which is not official and, therefore, escapes the regime of incompatibilities and conflicts of interest of officials) Musk can favor himself. It will have power over regulators that it believes are holding back the development of its businesses. It will be able to provide itself with a more favorable regulatory framework in autonomous cars (Tesla), rocket launches (SpaceX), artificial intelligence (xAI) and computer implants for the brain (Neuralink).

During the election year, Musk’s wealth has increased by about $133 billion, the largest increase among all billionaires. Almost everything has occurred in less than two months. On October 23, the magnate’s wealth was valued at 237,000 million and now, at 262,000 million.
