Down winter jackets often lose their shape after washing. This happens because their filling clumps together. These types of clothes require special treatment when washing. However, if this has already happened and your winter jacket has lost its shape after washing, you can save it with a wooden spoon and a dryer.. It sounds ridiculous, but the method involves breaking up the dense filling. Direct the warm air onto the jacket while using a spoon to break up the filling. Under the influence of temperature and breaking, the jacket will soon return to its original shape and will serve its purpose again.

Washing a winter jacket at home is possible, but you have to follow a few rules. Before you get started, carefully break down the filling material. Also clean visible dirty stains, preferably with a sponge and a little dishwashing liquid. Now follow the instructions below:

• fasten all Velcro and zippers that could damage the material;
• turn the jacket inside out and immerse it in cool water;
• knead the material for a few minutes;
• throw a winter jacket into the washing machine drum;
• throw three or four tennis balls into the drum to break up the fluff;
• set the washing cycle for delicate fabrics at a temperature of 30-40 degrees Celsius with spinning up to 600 revolutions;
• dry the jacket in the dryer or hang it on a hanger, away from radiators.

Do not use ordinary powder to wash winter clothes, it is best to use specialized preparations that will not harm the impregnators. For the same reason, do not pour fabric softener into the washing machine.
