In this way, Hezbollah is trying to strengthen its base of support after the devastating conflict with Israel.

The Lebanese militant group Hezbollah will compensate those affected by the war with more than $70 million, the group’s leader, Naim Qasim, said. Payments in the amount of 300 to 400 dollars per person after paying all 233,500 registered families will amount to more than 77 million dollars, Kásim specified in the recorded speech. At the same time, he thanked Iran for co-financing this effort. TASR informs about it according to a Reuters report.

The movement will also provide a one-time grant of $8,000 to those whose homes were destroyed during the war and $6,000 for annual rent for people living in the Lebanese capital Beirut and its suburbs. He also donates $4,000 to people displaced outside the capital until they can return home, the Hezbollah leader said.

Israeli attacks leveled large areas of the southern suburbs of Beirut, as well as parts of southern and eastern Lebanon. The majority of the Shia population lives in these localities, but they are also Hezbollah strongholds.

At the end of last month, a truce began between the movement and Israel, which they concluded after a 14-month conflict. The leader of the movement stated that Hezbollah is currently focusing on the reconstruction of the country. UN and French officials have repeatedly accused Israel of violating the agreement. Israel, however, claims that it respects the terms of the ceasefire and, on the contrary, accuses the militants of violating them.

The World Bank announced that almost 100,000 houses were partially or completely damaged during the conflict in Lebanon. This is a total of damages and losses in the amount of approximately 3.2 billion dollars.
