The project targets one or two percent of the population. Slovak Defense Minister Robert Kaliňák (Smer-SD) announced this in the National Council (NR) of the Slovak Republic. According to him, the system will be able to be continuously adapted.

“According to the first responses, we will know whether we hit at least 70 or 80 percent of those assumptions. It can’t even be measured by surveys, because you will get some answer, but it is not always completely relevant, because only the actual confrontation of a person with the training itself, with the conditions and interest, will give you the answer,” stated Kaliňák.

The minister confirmed that the project would require people to take two weeks of their working holiday for training, as well as three weekends and a further ten days on standby. For this deployment, a person receives a contribution of 3,000 euros. Kaliňák assumes that the project could start operating from autumn next year. “The parliamentary process is always unpredictable,” he added.

The Minister of Defense has spoken about changes in the functioning of active reserves several times. On Friday, he participated in the meeting of the Committee of the NR SR for Defense and Security, where he informed the deputies about the intention.
