The leaders of Mercosur and the European Union (EU) announced this Friday (6) a free trade agreement between the economic blocs.
The ceremony took place in the city of Montevideo, Uruguay, during the Mercosur summit.
On the occasion, the presidents of countries in the South American bloc were present, such as Javier Milei (Argentina), Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (Brazil) and Santiago Peña (Paraguay), as well as the host, Luis Lacalle Pou (Uruguay), as well as the president of European Commission, Ursula Von der Leyen.

A study by the Institute of Applied Economic Research (Ipea) points out that the signing of the agreement could generate a 0.46% increase in the Brazilian economy between 2024 and 2040, in addition to a 1.49% growth in investments.
