Elderly woman is attacked in her garage by military police

The Public Security Secretariat announced the dismissal of 12 military police officers who participated in the attack on Lenilda Messias Santos Lima, aged 63, in in Greater São Paulo. The incident occurred in the garage of the elderly woman’s residence and also involved her son, Juarez Higino Lima Júnior, who was attacked during the approach. Images circulating on social media show Lenilda being pushed and kicked by one of the police officers, as well as being pulled by her coat. Juarez, in turn, was subjected to a “rear naked choke” and hit with a baton. Despite her injuries, Lenilda was taken to a police vehicle. Investigations into the violent approach are ongoing, with an inquiry being conducted by both the Civil Police and the military police.

The situation originated from a motorcycle that was parked illegally on the sidewalk, and the PM’s version indicates that father and son had resisted the action, which led to the allegation of contempt. After the approach, Lenilda, Juarez and another son, Matheus, were taken to the Barueri Central Emergency Room. The case was registered with charges of contempt, resistance, bodily harm and abuse of authority, raising concerns about the conduct of the police officers involved.
