The CNB (Construindo Um Novo Brasil), the majority tendency of , will propose a resolution next Saturday (7) defending, among other things, that the president (PT) and his ministers make more use of statements on radio and television. The objective is to try to improve government communication with the population.
The PT directory meets over the weekend to mainly discuss the calendar and rules for succession in command of the party. A text will also be finalized with the PT’s position on some political and economic issues, with the government’s communication policy being one of them.
The declaration will be finalized during Saturday’s meeting, in Brasília, after each party tendency presents a proposed resolution. Negotiations will then take place to prepare the final text.
The CNB, however, is the majority trend, with great influence on internal processes. Government communication is often a source of criticism from allies, who allege that the administration’s deliveries and programs are not reaching the population efficiently, resulting in improved management approval.
The theme of communication was also one of the central points in the speech of party leaders, gathered in Brasília this Thursday (5) for the seminar “The Brazilian Reality and the Challenges of the Workers’ Party”.
In his speech at the opening session, the president of the Perseu Abramo Foundation, Paulo Okamotto, said that it is necessary to discuss the issue of communication.
“If we talk a lot, but we don’t convince you, then our work has been thrown away. But if we discuss, listen and debate and use all the tools to convince citizens of our projects and get these people moving, then we are doing politics,” he said.
In the same vein, the Minister of the Civil House, said that it was necessary to dispute the narrative in different media, both the most traditional and on social networks.
“Agent [precisa] dispute the narrative by occupying every radio station in this country, every blog, every account on Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, whatever it is […] because what they are doing is bringing forward the 2026 elections, bringing to the present an attempt to destabilize the government.”
In addition to the issue of communication, the proposal from the PT majority tendency will also address the defense of democracy and condemn the attempted coup d’état in 2022 to prevent Lula from taking office. There is a possibility that the text contains a request for the arrest of the former president ().
The text will also criticize and ask that an amnesty request not be advanced for Bolsonaro militants and authorities involved in the conspiracies revealed by the investigation.
On another point, the CNB will also defend the proposal to increase the Income Tax exemption range by up to R$5,000, which was presented by the Minister (Finance). The proposal was presented together with cost containment measures.
